Taiwan Glass Budgets NT$5 B. for Solar Glass Building in China

To boost market share, Taiwan Glass Corp., the largest manufacturer of glass in Taiwan, announced to budget approximately NT$5 billion to set up new production lines for advanced glass used in solar-energy in China, specifically in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park of Changhua County, central Taiwan, Chengdu of Sichuan province, Wuhan of Hubei province, and Anhui province.

Taiwan Glass said the continued expansion will help boost market competitiveness and consolidate its lead in Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

At present, Taiwan Glass has already set up four production lines in the three plants of Taichung of Taiwan, Kunshan of Jiangsu province and Chengdu of Sichuan province, China to specialize in the production of energy-saving products as low-E coating glass. Seeing the increased demand for energy-saving glass from China, the company will additionally set up nine production lines of energy-saving glass in China with total investments of NT$2.5 billion.

Not to divest its interest in Taiwan, the company has imported the most advanced TCO thin-film coating technology to roll out energy-saving glass in its plant in Changhua Coastal Industrial Park of central Taiwan. With total investments of NT$1.28 billion, the plant`s annual output totals 2.5 million square meters of energy-saving glass, with mass production to begin sometime in the third quarter of 2011.

Taiwan Glass is also building a new production line in Zhangzhou, Fujian province, with mass production to begin in September this year.
